Dr William Warr is Senior Vice President and Global Head of Health Strategy at BioNTech SE, where he leads global partnerships with governments, health systems, universities, and multilateral organisations to advance precision medicine and equitable vaccine access.
Before joining BioNTech, William served as Senior Health Adviser to the UK Prime Minister, including during the COVID-19 pandemic, where he was closely involved in clinical trials, testing, and the national vaccine roll-out. He also led major public-health initiatives on obesity, nutrition and prevention, and previously co-authored the UK Life Sciences Industrial Strategy, designing flagship programmes such as Our Future Health, a 5 million-participant cohort study focused on early disease detection and prevention.
William holds a DPhil in Public Health from the University of Oxford and an MPhil in Public Policy from the University of Cambridge. He is also a Visiting Professor at the Institute of Global Health Innovation at Imperial College London and an Honorary Senior Fellow at the University of Oxford.
Outside work, he is a keen sportsman. A former GB rowing gold medallist, he rowed in the Boat Race for both Oxford and Cambridge, winning with Oxford, and has completed two cross-continental swims.
