Angelo Martelli is an Assistant Professor in European and International Political Economy at the LSE European Institute, where he currently serves as Double Degrees Programme Director (Bocconi, Columbia, Fudan and Sciences Po) and coordinates the Policy Incubator. At the LSE, he is also a Faculty Affiliate in the Data Science Institute and the CIVICA Academic Lead for Postgraduate Studies. He is a Non-Resident Fellow at the Bocconi Institute for European Policymaking and a Visiting Professor at the College of Europe, Natolin.
His research interests span labour economics and European political economy, with a particular focus on the impact of technology on the evolution of employment structures across Europe and its implications for labour market institutions and income inequality.
He worked as a Consultant for the Jobs Group of the World Bank, as a Policy Fellow for the Open Innovation Team of the UK Cabinet Office and HM Treasury and as a Technical Expert for the IMF. Before arriving at the LSE for his PhD, he graduated from Pompeu Fabra University with an MSc and Master of Advanced Studies in Economics and pursued a Bachelor’s degree in International Economics and Management at Bocconi University. Former President of the LSE Italian Society. He published Op-Eds for several international newspapers, including the Wall Street Journal and El País.
