Michael Kummer is an Associate Professor at the Bennett School of Public Policy.
His research applies causal quantitative methods and online experiments to study the creation of user-generated content in knowledge systems such as Wikipedia and Stack Overflow. He also studies the structure of online markets, the role of data regulation in such markets, and firms’ strategic choices on data collection and innovation in mobile app markets. His recent work focuses on the economic effects of AI and their implications for policy and regulation. His work has been published in leading journals including Management Science, Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, The Econometrics Journal, and the European Economic Review.
Michael is a Visiting Associate Professor (with Aggregation) at Nova School of Business and Economics, Portugal, where he was previously serving as core faculty. He is also a Research Associate at ZEW – Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research in Mannheim, Germany.
