Biography

Owen Garling is the Knowledge Transfer Facilitator at the Bennett School of Public Policy, acting as a vital link between the department’s world-class researchers and policymakers at regional, national, and international levels. His role ensures that the School’s research addresses real-world policy questions and reaches the audiences best placed to implement its findings. At the heart of his approach to knowledge transfer is the need to build and maintain strong networks and relationships with policymakers, academics and others working in fields related to the interests of the Bennett School.

His contributions to the Bennett School include publications on social and cultural infrastructure and questions of productivity in relation to greater Cambridge and the surrounding area of East Anglia. Owen brings over two decades of public sector experience in and around Cambridge. Before joining the Bennett, Owen worked at Cambridgeshire County Council, where his work focused on embedding place-based and systemic approaches within the public sector.
