Lecturer in International Business at Aston Business School, Aston University. She previously held a postdoctoral research fellowship at Warwick Business School, where she contributed to a project on foreign direct investment and UK productivity, funded by the ESRC Productivity Institute. Xiaocan earned her PhD in Management from Aston Business School. Her research explores the dynamics of firm innovation and growth, the strategic location choices of foreign direct investment, and firm-level productivity. She has expertise in applied microeconometrics and causal inference methods, with a particular focus on the impact of trade policy shocks on firm behaviour.
