Considered one of the most influential voices in understanding the digital economy in the UK, Diane Coyle will receive the highest academic distinction from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) in recognition of her academic and institutional merits.

Today, Professor Dame Diane Coyle, one of the most influential economists in the analysis of the digital economy and economic measurement, received an honorary doctorate of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) in Barcelona, Spain.
The University awarded Diane the highest academic distinction in recognition of her academic and institutional career, as well as for her contribution to contemporary economic thought.
Diane is currently Professor of Public Policy at the University of Cambridge, Research Director at the Bennett School of Public Policy, and Course Director for the new MPhil in Digital Policy. Her work focuses on productivity, the digital economy and AI policy, and economic measurement. The underlying motivation for all her work is the question: what does it mean for the economy to improve, and who benefits?
Upon receiving the doctorate, Diane said: “More than ever we need educated people, with curiosity. Everyone must continue to have access to institutions like the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya; a university that works on the interaction between technology and society, and for me it is a great honour to receive this honorary doctorate.”
