Christine Sheldon is an Assistant Professor in Public Policy at the Bennett School of Public Policy. Her research sits at the intersection of computational and digital methods, political science, and public policy, with a particular focus on the use of emerging technologies to better understand political processes and improve public-sector decision-making.
Her research has developed machine-learning and multi-agent system pipelines to study and simulate opaque political negotiations, established causal approaches to understanding polarising patterns in digital constituency service, and assessed the implementation of large language model (LLM)-driven scenario analysis in the public sector. Christine holds an MPhil and DPhil in Politics from the University of Oxford. Prior to joining the Bennett School, she was a Research Fellow in Computational Social Science at the Centre for AI in Government at the University of Birmingham, where she worked for two years.
At the Bennett School of Public Policy, Christine teaches on the MPhil in Digital Public Policy. She convenes Using Digital and AI Technologies in the Public Sector and Independent Policy Analysis and Evidence Assessment, taught during the Lent term.
